Folders & Uploads
The Files area is the workspace's shared drive. The folder tree is on the left; the files of the folder you select are on the right. Everyone in the workspace sees the same tree, and a change made by a teammate or an agent appears while the page is open.
Folders
Create a top-level folder with + at the top of the tree. Everything else is in the … menu that appears when you point at a folder:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| New subfolder | Creates a folder inside this one. Folders nest as deep as you need. |
| Rename | Changes the name. Files inside and references to the folder are not affected. |
| Move… | Moves the folder, with everything in it, into another folder or to the top level. |
| Copy path | Copies the folder's address, for example /invoices/2026. |
| Delete | Removes the folder. Only an empty folder that nothing references can be deleted. |
You can also drag a folder onto another folder to move it inside, or onto the empty part of the tree to move it to the top level.
Two folders in the same place cannot share a name, and upper and lower case count as the same name. A name cannot contain a slash. At the top level the names tasks and projects are reserved.
Files remembers the folder you had open and which folders were expanded, so coming back from another page returns you to the same place.
Adding files
Select a folder first: a file always lives in a folder. Then either:
- click Add files and choose one or several files, or
- drag files from your computer onto the folder's file list.
Each file uploads on its own, with a progress bar, and appears in the folder as soon as it finishes. The × on a row cancels that upload. A file that is too large, or a program, is refused with the reason, and the rest carry on. See what you can upload.
Looking at a folder
A folder opens as a list: type icon, name, format, size, who added the file, and the date. Switch to cards in the header to see image thumbnails; your choice is remembered. Sort by Date, Type, Size or Name, and choose the same field again to reverse the order.
Click a picture (PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP) to open the viewer: zoom, pan, and move through the other pictures of the folder with the arrows or the arrow keys. Click any other file to download it.
Working with a file
Point at a file to download or delete it. The … menu has the rest:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Rename | Changes the file's name, extension included. |
| Move to folder | Moves the file to another folder. Dragging the file onto a folder in the tree does the same. |
| Copy to folder | Puts an independent copy in a folder you choose. The copy counts toward the workspace's storage. |
| Copy path | Copies the file's address, for example /invoices/2026/aug/report.pdf. |
Paths
Every folder and file has a path. It is how you tell an agent which file you mean: "summarize /contracts/2026/acme.pdf". A path is an address inside XPT Tracker, not a web link. To send a teammate to a folder, share the page address from your browser while that folder is open.
Deleting
Deleting a file asks for confirmation and removes it for everyone. It cannot be undone.
A file or folder that a task or project references cannot be deleted. The message says how many references there are; remove them on those tasks and projects first. A folder must also be empty: move or delete its files and subfolders before deleting it.
History
Every change in Files is recorded in the workspace activity feed with who made it and when: folders created, renamed, moved and deleted; files added, renamed, moved, copied and removed.
