Home, My Work & Inbox

The three pages at the top of the sidebar answer three different questions:

Page The question it answers
Home What has been happening in the workspace?
My Work What is on my plate?
Inbox What needs my attention?

Home

Home is the workspace's pulse over a period you choose. Pick the period in the header: Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last month or Year to date. Everything on the page follows it.

Block What it shows
Counters New, completed and active projects; new, shipped and in-progress tasks
Finished The tasks and projects completed in the period
New The work and documents that appeared in the period
Project health Active projects with their health and progress, for example On track · 4 / 10 tasks · 40%
Recent Activity The latest changes across the workspace, with who made each one. Load more goes further back

Home shows everyone's work, not just yours. Work that belongs to a private team you are not on is left out: you see only what you are allowed to see.

If a block is empty for a short period, try a wider one. The page says so itself.

My Work

My Work is your own plate: the open tasks assigned to you, sorted into three lists.

List What lands there
In Progress Tasks you have started
Up Next Tasks that are yours but not started yet
Blocked Tasks waiting on another task that is still open, whatever their own status

A task appears in exactly one list. A blocked task goes to Blocked even if it was already in progress, because it cannot move until its blocker closes.

Each list has its own Sort: by Priority (the default, most urgent first), Created or Updated. From a row you can change the task's labels and priority or open its actions menu without leaving the page. Click the row to open the task.

Beside the tasks are the things that are yours in a wider sense:

  • My Projects: the active projects you own.
  • Team Projects: the other active projects, so you can see what is in flight around you.
  • My Drafts: documents you started editing and have not published yet. Click one to return to it.
  • Recent Activity: what you changed lately.

A list with nothing in it is hidden. If nothing is assigned to you at all, the page says so instead of showing empty lists.

Inbox

The Inbox collects what was addressed to you.

Type You get it when
Mentions Someone @mentions you in a discussion, a task, a brainstorm or a channel
Replies Someone replies to your message
Assignments A task is assigned to you or taken from you, or you become or stop being the owner of a project
Updates Something changes in a task or project you watch

Each entry names who did it, where, and shows the beginning of the text. Click it to go there; that also marks it read. The Inbox item in the sidebar shows how many are unread.

In the header, All and Unread switch what is listed, Type narrows the list to one or several of the kinds above, and Mark all read clears the unread marks.

Watching a task or a project

Updates come only from what you watch. Open a task or a project and use the Watch control in its header to follow it, and the same control to stop. You can stop watching something even after you have lost access to it.

What does not go to the Inbox

Direct messages have their own place. Their unread counts live in the Direct Messages list of the sidebar, so the Inbox stays for mentions, replies, assignments and updates. See Channels & Messaging.
