Creating a Job

Open AI Studio → Jobs and press New Job. The same form opens from a job's menu as Edit.

The form

Field What to put there
Name What people will see in the list.
Agent Who runs the job. The list marks Harness agents (a computer of their own) and Trial agents (on XPT's keys).
Brief What the job is for, and the facts every run needs. Written once, read at the start of every run.
Runs Prompt — what to do on each run, in plain words. Or Workflow — one of the workspace's workflows, with its arguments.
Trigger When the job runs (below).

The job is created switched on. Its owner is the person who created it, and the owner is subscribed.

Brief or prompt?

Both are instructions; they hold different things.

Brief Prompt
Answers What is this job and what do we know What to do on each run
Holds Sources, what to record, how to name things, what the statuses mean The steps, in order, and what the report should say
Changes Rarely — when the subject changes When you tune how the job works

For a job that runs a workflow, the workflow holds the steps, so the brief is the only place for the job's own context.

On a job's page, the Brief · Prompt switch shows either one, so you can read what a job is told without opening Edit.

Choosing the agent

Agent Good for
Server-side Light work: a summary of the workspace, a digest from the knowledge base, a check through XPT tools. Fast and cheap.
Harness Real work: reading many web pages, PDFs and spreadsheets, running code, keeping files. Its computer has a browser for pages built by JavaScript and the tools to read PDFs.

A harness agent's run gets a fresh computer each time; what carries over from one run to the next is the job's artifacts, not files on disk. See Harness Agents for the computer and its limits.

Triggers

Trigger Runs Set by
Manual Only when someone presses Run now Nothing to set
Schedule Every hour, every day or every week Picker: the time, the timezone; narrow Every day to chosen weekdays (Mon–Fri) and Every hour to chosen hours (9–18)
Cron On a cron expression Expression and timezone. It is read back in words as you type — "Every day at 11:25 and 11:45" — with the next run
Event When something happens in the workspace Coming soon

The jobs list shows the trigger the way it was set, as a coloured chip, with what it means in words: "Every day (Mon–Fri) at 09:00 UTC". Next run says when the next one is due: "in 18h".

Switch a job off with its switch in the list or on its page; a switched-off job keeps its schedule and runs again when switched on. Run now works either way.

Subscribers

Subscribers in a job's menu chooses who hears when a run finishes or fails, in the Inbox and by email. The owner is subscribed from the start; anyone can be added or removed.
