Connect Notion
Notion runs a hosted MCP server, so a harness agent can search, read and update Notion pages once Notion is added as a workspace connector. No Notion integration has to be built: XPT Tracker registers itself with Notion automatically.
Before you start
| You need | Why |
|---|---|
| Workspace admin role in XPT Tracker | Only admins add and connect connectors |
| A Notion account that is a member (not a guest) of the Notion workspace | The connection acts as this account |
| On Notion Enterprise with AI governance turned on: a Notion admin who approves XPT Tracker as an MCP client | Notion blocks clients that are not approved |
Choose the account deliberately. A connector is shared: every agent you give it to reads and writes Notion as the account that connected it, and sees exactly the pages that account can see. Many teams use a dedicated Notion member (for example xpt-agents@yourcompany.com) and share with it only the teamspaces agents should work in.
Option 1: OAuth (any Notion plan)
In XPT Tracker, open Workspace settings → MCP → Connectors and press Add connector.
Fill in the form:
Field Value Name NotionKey notion(agents see its tools asnotion…; the key cannot be changed later)Server URL https://mcp.notion.com/mcp Authentication OAuth Press Add and connect. Notion opens in the browser.
Sign in with the account chosen above, pick the Notion workspace and allow access.
You return to the Connectors list, and the connector shows Connected.
Leave the Advanced section empty: Notion accepts XPT Tracker without a pre-registered client.
Option 2: MCP token (Notion Business and Enterprise)
A Notion workspace owner can issue a token instead of signing in through the browser.
- In Notion's Developer portal, create a token with New MCP token.
- In XPT Tracker, add a connector with Server URL
https://mcp.notion.com/mcpand Authentication Bearer token, and paste the token.
To rotate it later, use Replace token on the connector.
Give it to agents
Open AI Studio → Agents, select a harness agent, and add Notion in its Connectors section. The change applies from the agent's next turn.
When something goes wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Notion refuses the client or asks for approval | On Notion Enterprise, a Notion admin must approve XPT Tracker as an MCP client |
| The connector shows Needs reconnect | The access was revoked in Notion or the account lost access. Press Reconnect and sign in again |
| Agents cannot find a page | The connecting account cannot see it. Share the page or teamspace with that account in Notion |
